The Importance Of a Great Logo

Sometimes we might underestimate the importance of a good logo in creating a successful brand or business, I’d even push it to say it’s up there with having a great product/service or even getting positive reviews. Think about it, how many times have you seen a logo and instantly known the brand/company even without seeing or hearing the name. Apple, Nike and McDonald’s are a few that quickly come to mind ! The foundation of your brand identity starts with your logo and it’s what distinguishes you and sets you apart from the competition. Your logo can tell a lot about your company and it is often the first opportunity you get to pique the interest of new customers. Since a logo is a visual element, having one that is  aesthetically pleasing often triggers positive connections and memories about your business that stick when oftentimes the name alone does not. I for one have a photographic memory and have always been a visual learner so the number of car brands I can identify by the logo but could not tell you the name of is crazy. Maybe it’s just because I’m not super into cars but the fact that I can even recognize them at all tells you a whole lot about the importance of logos. We are wired to identify images, so a unique logo makes it easier for humans to remember your business.

It gives your business an identity

A well thought out logo with the right elements and fonts can communicate so many things about your company like your values and mission, which is the perfect first impression that can let your prospective customers know why you stand out from the rest (chances are you’re not the only one in your industry). In markets which are highly saturated, an effective logo will determine if you get lost in the crowd or if you come out on top. Similarly, in emerging markets, a good logo will assist with helping you get ahead. Your logo is often the first point of contact that introduces customers to who you are, what you do and what benefits you can offer them. Once your company starts to grow, a good logo will also be the reason you create brand loyalty. How many times have you been online or out shopping and come across several versions of the item you need but settle on one based on the familiarity of the brand ? Maybe you’ve bought one of their products before and you were impressed with the quality or maybe you saw several people using that said brand on social media. You may not know any of the brands and all look very similar in terms of quality but that familiar and recognizable logo helps influence your decision. By default this distinguishing logo makes it appear more trustworthy than the others you have never heard of before and this goes a long way when it comes to building brand loyalty. Chances are once you buy it this time and are satisfied with the quality, you’ll likely buy it again and that logo will be the first thing you look for ! Once you have a strong and recognizable logo, new product launches and service introductions become easier and more successful. Just by placing your logo on the new product, the benefits of your branding is immediately realized. People are always hesitant of new products but having your logo on it incites credibility and builds initial trust making them more likely to give it a shot.

Key Tip : It might seem obvious but keep it simple ! Logos that are simple yet impactful dominate the business landscape and often are the ones that are timeless. Once again take Apple and Nike as an example. Really think about how you can take a seemingly boring logo and turn it into something that stands out and leaves an identifiable brand mark. It really doesn’t have to be complicated and detailed to leave a lasting impression.

Once you have developed a good logo and correlated it with your brand message, it will begin to appear on anything you create including all your mobile marketing material, websites, social media platforms, basically everywhere you want your brand to be advertised. In other words, your logo becomes the face of the company and brand.  Just remember, your logo needs to be unique enough that it stands out and is easily recognizable and memorable but also simple enough that it can still be used across several mediums and be effective at any size. It should be able to transition from mobile marketing to merchandising and signage easily.  When it comes to branding, a great logo is one of the most important investments you can make for your business making it an essential part of any budget. EnCharge hub has a team that is committed to helping you develop a logo that is effective and unique and will represent the best qualities of your business. Your logo should be memorable and is a key player in establishing your company’s identity and overall success.
